Heather Chan
Hello! My name is Heather, I am a first-year student studying Office Administration – Health Services at Waterfront campus.
I am running for Director of Education and Equity because I am a caring and empathetic person, passionate about helping all; especially those at a disadvantage in continuing their education.
I started out getting involved in George Brown campus life through volunteering with the Volunteer Squad and later became a Tour Guide for Orientation Days. I attended Student Life and SA events as well and got to know a lot of lovely people. I also helped friends, classmates, and the student body in general with navigating the various services which are offered here.
I have spoken with many who have had issues with factors such as language barriers, cost of living, and inability to find stable work. As a student who has had struggles myself, I related and sympathized. I still do. All these discussions led me to one conclusion: enough is enough. I would rather do whatever is in my power to address inequality than just keep talking about it.
It’s time to be the change we want to see.
