Rain Avery

I have been a George Brown student since 2024, and started my current program with the goal in mind to get a position helping and supporting other students. Coming from a place where I had to earn the privilege of being able to receive a post-secondary education, I understand the complexities and range of struggles students experience, as well as fulfillment needs that students require to succeed. After my first year, I was appointed to the Board of Directors of Student Association as an Academic Faculty Representative for Interdisciplinary Studies Programs. I have held my term since July of 2025, so by the end of April I will have had 9 months worth of experience on the Board. I have worked alongside the current Director of Education and Equity for the duration of that time, and feel that I have the experience and networks to succeed the position. My other work experience includes working as a wildlife rehabilitator, and volunteering experience in fields such as land re-indigenization groups.
